Nifty below 8000, Sensex steady; tech stocks gain, HDFC falls -- 25 Nov 2016

                                       

The market has opened firm as the Sensex is up 70.47 points or 0.3 percent at 25930.64. The Nifty is up 29.95 points or 0.4 percent at 7995.45. About 571 shares have advanced, 147 shares declined, and 32 shares are unchanged.

Bharti, TCS, Infosys, Axis Bank and GAIL are top gainers while HDFC twins, L&T, Cipla and ONGC are losers in the Sensex. 

The Indian rupee opened flat at 68.72 per dollar on Friday versus previous close 68.73. 

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.19 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.50 per cent higher. 

Tata Steel (up 1.07 per cent), Bharti AirtelBSE -0.03 % (up 0.98 per cent), Infosys (up 0.78 per cent) and TCS (up 0.67 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers. 

Tata Motors (down 1 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (down 0.67 per cent), L&T (down 0.2 per cent), HDFC BankBSE 0.55 % (down 0.4 per cent), and CiplaBSE -0.19 % (down 0.23 per cent) were among the major Sensex losers.

Sensex, Nifty post biggest loss in a series since Aug 2013

                                                 

Both the Sensex and Nifty posted biggest loss in a series since August 2013. The Sensex was down 191.64 points or 0.7 percent at 25860.17 and the Nifty was down 67.80 points or 0.8 percent at 7965.50. About 1345 shares have advanced, 1210 shares declined, and 171 shares are unchanged. 

TCS, Bajaj Auto, Infosys, SBI and Tata Steel were top gainers while Tata Motors, Adani Ports, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma and M&M were losers in the Sensex.

The Sensex is down 135.62 points or 0.5 percent at 25916.19, and the Nifty down 47.80 points or 0.6 percent at 7985.50. About 359 shares have advanced, 767 shares declined, and 53 shares are unchanged. 

The 30-share index was trading 150 points lower or 0.54 per cent at 25,909. It touched a high of 26,049.14 and a low of 25,880.78 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 7,982 down 51 points or 0.63 per cent. It touched a high of 8,013.65 and a low of 7,973.95 in the first 30 minutes of trade. 

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was down 0.55 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.58 per cent lower. 

Dr Redyy's Laboratories (up 0.5 per cent), InfosysBSE 0.49 % (up 0.46 per cent), and WiproBSE 0.41 % (up 0.02 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers.

After a volatile session, the market has ended on firm note. The Sensex closed up 91.03 points or 0.3 percent at 26051.81, and the Nifty up 31.00 points or 0.4 percent at 8033.30. About 1906 shares have advanced, 682 shares declined, and 168 shares are unchanged.

Lupin, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, NTPC and L&T were gainers while M&M, HDFC twins, Bharti Airtel and Maruti were losers in the Sensex.

SBI (down 1 per cent), M&M (down 0.63 per cent), WiproBSE -0.89 % (down 0.5 per cent), ONGCBSE -0.49 % (down 0.40 per cent), and Maruti Suzuki (down 0.38 per cent) were among the major Sensex losers.

Nifty ends above 8000, Sensex rises 196 pts; BHEL, L&T laggards
